As we reflect on the year for Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank (EIDB) the words that come to mind are hard work, gratitude, grit and grace. On March 23, 2020, EIDB opened to anyone in the community struggling with diaper need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That decision led to a quick shift of operations to a no-contact, drive-through distribution model. This could not have been done without the support of our nonprofit and media partners who helped spread the word to help those needing assistance and all of YOU – who gave your time, talents and resources to make sure the diaper bank would be sustainable for 2020 and beyond.
In August, after the devastating Derecho , we worked with LAP-AID to stock city and area neighborhood resource centers with diapers and baby wipes for two weeks; over 183,000 diapers were distributed to approximately 1,550 families. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community members, businesses, friend groups, volunteers and donors from all over the country who sent donations to support our work.
Thank you from the “bottom” of our hearts for your encouragement and donations in 2020. We look forward to continued innovation and will work tirelessly to ensure that every child has access to clean and dry diapers!
Sincerely,
Eastern Iowa Diaper Bank
